Advertising
While the studio is being painted things are going full steam ahead for The Kissing Tree. I have booked an advertisement with a local wedding magazine called Newcastle and Central Coast Wedding. It comes out annually around Easter time so it will be in the shops soon. The Kissing Tree already appears on it's website directory. And I also joined an online wedding directory called Weddings 4 U. We can be found in the wedding flower section. There are a couple more things in the works but I will let you know about them when they have been confirmed.

My Wedding
As I said in a previous post, my husband and I were married almost 3 months ago (even though today is actually our 11th anniversary), so I think it is only right that since I could be sharing in your special day, you should get an image of mine.
I've put together a photo board of our wedding that we held in the beautiful Hunter Valley. Our photographers were Julie and Grant from Delisser photography. Not only are they the nicest people you will ever meet, but they are extremely talented and I would recommend them to anyone.
Some of my other suppliers were: Videography - White Designs, Hair Stylist - Julie Blazely from The Art Of Hair Beecroft, Makeup Artist - Katrina Middleton from About F.A.C.E Sydney, Dress Maker - Susan from Studio Fabrics, Celebrant - Tony Tamplin and Cake - Gerri from I Do Cupcakes. They were all fantastic!
After spending the last 2 years planning my wedding, I completely understand all of the hard work that couples put into their special day. I wanted my wedding to be perfect and I can relate to other brides who are hoping for the same thing. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.Tuesday, February 17, 2009
The Studio
I have the perfect space to set up my studio for The Kissing tree. It's almost as if the room was built solely for this purpose. It's just one big room in the downstairs area of my house, and we have no other use for it as all of the living areas and bedrooms are upstairs. It is now the home of The Kissing Tree.
The space is just so ugly at the moment and I can't wait to pretty it up. First job is to paint those walls. I'm still undecided between a white blank canvas, or a warm light coloured latte. But I have to make the decision quickly as my husband is ready to start painting.
This is a very ugly BEFORE picture:
Stay tuned for more updates about the studio transformation.

My Wonderful Husband
I had a surprise at the door on Saturday morning - a delivery of one dozen red roses for Valentine's Day. My husband and I have been married for almost three months so it was our first Valentine's Day as husband and wife. Funny thing is, he never bought me flowers for Valentine's Day until I became a florist. And to add to my surprise, he had organised for my sister to take me out to lunch while he stayed home and organised my 30th birthday party. I had no idea he was doing it and it was a lovely surprise when I got home to see many of my family and friends had taken the time to come over and celebrate with us. My husband is such a sweet heart and I am a very lucky girl to have him.

And so it begins
Welcome to 'The Kissing Tree'.
My name is Dannii and I am the owner of The Kissing Tree. I have been a qualified florist for about 3 years now and have worked with some of the Coasts most experienced and successful florists.
The idea for my own florist business has been in my head ever since I started three years ago. The goal was to have it up and running by my 30th birthday, and with only 10 days until that occurs, I am slightly behind schedule.
As a florist I found that I would always get excited when a bride came in to my work to discuss her wedding flowers. It wasn't just the flowers that I wanted to know about, but the whole event. I just love weddings. All that love and happiness was a great contrast to my least favourite part of working as a florist - funerals.
So it was only natural that when I was ready to start my own business, I would combine the two things that I loved. And now...... I'm ready.
